The MindBrainBody Institute is situated at the Berlin School of Mind and Brain (a graduate school of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin established by the German Excellence Initiative in 2006) and closely linked to the Department of Neurology at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences.
Every year, we organize the MindBrainBody (MBB) Symposium during the International Brain Awareness Week in Berlin.
Research at the MindBrainBody Institute focuses on mind-brain-body interactions, using behavioral and neurophysiological / neuroimaging methods as well as Virtual Reality technology:
- Mind-body-emotion interactions, stress, and hypertension
- Somatosensory system
- Stroke (with a focus on somatosensory symptoms, pain and emotional disturbance)
- Heart-brain interactions (e.g., cardiac cycle studies, heart rate variability)
Research projects are performed in close partnership with other groups at the Berlin School of Mind and Brain, at NRO-CBS, the German competence net stroke, the excellence cluster NeuroCure at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin (Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Freie Universität Berlin), the Center for Stroke Research Berlin (CSB), and the Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience.
